"We understand that being Black and of trans experience in the South comes with challenges that cannot always be separated. Racism, transphobia, poverty, healthcare, housing, employment, and safety can all affect a person at the same time. We try to see and support the whole person instead of putting people into separate boxes.

We center Black women and femmes of trans experience by making sure they have a real voice in our decisions, our direction, and how we show up in the community. We also make room for people who may not normally see themselves as leaders. We believe the people closest to the problems often have the best understanding of what our community needs.

We do not believe in speaking for people who can speak for themselves. We believe in creating room for people of trans experience to speak, lead, make decisions, and be heard."
